Christy Callahan Cromwell's Bio

Coach Cromwell, also known as Coach C has played volleyball for 19 years and has coached at the middle school, high school, club and college level for 13 years.  In college, she had the privilege to be coached under Dave Trumbo at Stevenson University. Coach Trumbo has now won 7 MAC conference championships in a row. During college, Coach C began assisting Greater Grace high school at just 18 years old.  She also started out at Time-out volleyball club as an Assistant Coach, and eventually moved on to Head Coach.  Coach C has also coached for Carroll County Volleyball club, Upper Chesapeake Volleyball Club, KPVA (Keba Phipps Volleyball Academy) and Volleyone Volleyball club.  Next, Coach C took on the role as the Head Coach at Franklin High School for two winning seasons, Havre De Grace High School and Horizon Christian academy (Ga).  
In 2012, Coach Cromwell desired to step up her role and was hired as the Head Volleyball Coach at Harford Community College where she coached for three years.  Several school records were broken, and in 2014, the team won the conference championship and first place in the state.  During 2014, Coach C owned Achievement Volleyball and ran private training, group training, camps and clinics as well as worked side by side with her brother T.D. Callahan, who is an athletic personal trainer.  In 2014, she also had the privilege to run a volleyball camp with former Olympian Keba Phipps and three time Gold Medalist Coach Jorge Garbey. The camp was a huge success and made the local news station in Harford County.
In 2014, Coach C was offered the opportunity to move to Atlanta, Ga to coach under former Olympian Keba Phipps.  She decided to take the opportunity and moved to Georgia to coach for Keba's club which was KPVA. Under Keba, Coach C learned extensive training under the former professional (in Italy) and Olympic (US) player, who was considered to be one of the best outside hitters in the world.  Next, she was invited to coach at an Olympus club camp where she co-coached and learned under former professional (in Uganda) and Olympic player, James Omedo.  In 2015, Coach Cromwell was also invited to coach at a college recruiting event at Oglethorpe University, co-coaching with Division I and III coaches.  
Later on, her journey continued as she served as the Head Coach for the 18's team at Volleyone club in 2016 where she had the privilege to learn from Director George Miller.  George Miller's 17 and under team won the AAU National Championship for the club level in 2016. In Georgia, she was also asked to work a camp for Volleyone Volleyball club and learned under Phipps former Olympic teammate Stacy Sykora (former USA women's libero).  Coach C has learned from several knowledgeable professionals, including USA women's coach and former Olympic Gold Medalist Karch Kiraly from one of his coaching clinics, as well as former Olympic Coach Carl McGown from attending two Gold Medal Square clinics (gold medal square certified).  Coach C has learned a lot and has combined everything she has learned to coach athletes to perform optimally.  Coach C has been Impact certified and is positive coaching alliance certified.
Currently, Coach Cromwell coaches volleyball at Beth Tfiloh, in MD.  Volleyball coaching specialties include confidence training, positive self-talk, goal setting, all positions of play, agility training, speed training, and weight training. 
She has experience with recruiting, understanding the recruiting process, and what is expected for a varsity or college athlete. 
Playing experience  
Coach C played four years at Stevenson University in Maryland as opposite hitter, serving as captain her senior year.  Prior, she played 4 years at John Carroll High School, was part of the MIAA championship her senior year, and was on a team that lost one game in two years.  In high school, Coach C played for Time-out club volleyball and attended several intense camps throughout her athletic career.  Since graduating from Stevenson, she has played beach doubles, grass doubles and has participated in several volleyball leagues and pick-up games. 
Extra: Cromwell also holds two bachelor degrees in psychology and human services, as well as nutrition. She offers nutrition coaching to those interested in private lessons.
